CELTICS NOTEBOOK

This should not come as any great shocker, but the Celtics are making it
known, loud and clear according to one league source, that Danny Fortson
is available. It  makes sense for at least three reasons. Fortson hasn't
made anyone forget Ron Mercer, his contract is up at the end of the year
and there's no telling how much it might take to re-sign him. He might
be appealing to a team looking to clear additional cap room. The Celtics
have no shot of doing that anytime soon. Also available for the same
reason: Pervis Ellison.
