I think the idea was to have Fortson play the 4 and Walker the 3. It did not
work out & Pitino confirmed this. So as you mention they play the same spot,
Walker is getting big mucks and going to play 36-40 minutes a game so that
does not leave much for Fortson unless they think he can play the 5 spot
which at 6'7' is questionable.  But then Cowens & Unseld had great careers
and Rodman has dominated the boards at 6'7" ?
