Productivity



In Friday’s Wall Street Journal, 2 guys who specialize in computerized
statistical analysis of sports ran a column on the NBA purporting to
identify the most productive players.  Their measure is MaxPoints (MP),
which they define as follows:

 Points+Rebounds+Assists+2xSteals+2xBlocks-Turnovers-.5x(Field goals
missed).

By this measure Shaq is most productive at 46.3 MP per game with Duncan 2nd
at 38.9.
Rounding out the top 10:
Garnett 38.8, Weber 37.5, Mourning 36.4, Malone 35.4,
Hill 34.5, Payton 33.4, Iverson 32.2, Mutombo 31.2

Top 6 in MP per minute played are:
Shaq 1.16, Weber 1.03, Mourning 1.01, Duncan .98, Garnett .97, Malone .96.
(Iverson at .80 is 22nd.)
