Celts, Pistons talk

CLEVELAND - Word on the street (and the information superhighway) is
that
the Celtics and Detroit have talked about a deal involving Pistons
forward
Jerome Williams, but nothing's brewing at the moment.

The Celtics would like to get their hands on the 27-year-old, 6-foot-9
Georgetown product who attacks the glass and can defend both small and
power
forwards. Williams is averaging 7.8 points and 8.2 rebounds in 24.6
minutes
per game this season and would complement Antoine Walker.

The Pistons, however, aren't yet ready to move Williams, who will likely
opt
out of the last year of his contract next summer. Detroit club president
Joe
Dumars said the Celts, Los Angeles Clippers and Toronto Raptors have all
expressed interest in Williams, but there are no deals on the table.

``Nobody has made us an offer,'' Dumars said. ``But it's important to
note
we are not shopping Jerome Williams. We haven't called anybody.''

The Celtics have spoken to the Pistons about Williams in the past.
