Holley's garbage

Holley writes trash like:

"Before Jerry West retired in Los Angeles, he was contemplating another
brilliant move: acquiring Walker and his
salary without giving up Kobe Bryant and Shaquille O'Neal. If that trade
had gone through, the NBA wouldn't be
fair anymore."

He's implicitly criticizing Celtics management simply for receiving a trade
offer that they clearly declined. I mean,
why didn't West make this move if it was so "brilliant". Uh, maybe because
the Celtics weren't interested?
What if the Celtics offered Walker for Shaq? Should Pitino be commended for
"contemplating such a brilliant
move?"

Trade offers and speculation are rampant in the NBA; it's a part of the
business unless you're one of about five
superstars who happens to like where you are. As Mark noted, Antoine has
not earned that status.
