Green Team Revisited

I've been lurking as usual but have enjoyed the recent banter regarding
Brown, Vitaly, etc.

Put me in the group of cautious optimists regarding this summer's (lack of )
activity. That's exactly what I wanted. I STILL think we have what every
team needs to compete for a championship already. . .two perennial All-Stars
who will compete for a spot on either the first or second All-NBA team year
in and year out. You laugh but that's Walker and Pierce. They're not there
yet but they are less than 24 years old and are already relatively
experienced. We're obviously not where we thought we'd be by now and we're
not challenging for a title yet but neither were Scotty and Michael in 1986
and very few people thought the Bulls were going anywhere fast at that
point. Our core is young, athletic, signed on for long term and have great
potential--not many teams in the league can say that right now--the powers
are aging quickly.

Regarding the Randy Brown signing. Yes I was hoping for Croshere or Mercer
too but Brown aint that bad and I can see a possible return of the 2nd team
to prominence in a pressing/trapping role. You bring in Randy Brown (PG),
Cal Cheaney (G/F), Moiso (PF), and Battie (C) and keep Pierce (G/F) or even
let Wally (F) in at the end of the 1st and first half of the second and I
still think some real damage can be done--especially to the older teams or
teams on the second night of a back to back. The monkey outbreak should
definitely play a positive role for this team--used sparingly and
intelligently.
