Mavs sign Rhodes for rest of season
DALLAS (AP) - The Dallas Mavericks have signed free agent
Roderick Rhodes for the last six games of the season, a move that
will pay Rhodes $27,000 and give him a chance to earn a contract
for next season. Bruno Sundov was placed on the injured list with
a lower back strain to make room for Rhodes. Rhodes, a 6-foot-6
guard-forward, has not played in the NBA since he was released by
Philadelphia prior to the start of the season, but played for
Vancouver and Houston last season. He averaged 3.3 points in only
13 games. Mavericks Coach Don Nelson said he doesn't expect
Rhodes to receive much playing time in the season's remaining
games, although he will be given serious looks in practices and
over the summer. He did not play in the Mavs' 92-81 win over
Portland on Tuesday night.
