RE: David Aldridge gives Celtics a C- for offseason

I would only give them a C to a B rating. Although I think Fortson can help
I still feel we have not acquired the true veteran star leader we need. And
with Pitino's game plan maybe we never will.

I still question if AW can play defense at the 3 spot, which I think is Paul
Pierce's best position, and if Potapenko can really stay out of foul
trouble.

I still would like us to consider a Fortson move for Jalen Rose, & Battie &
Anderson in a package for Maurice Taylor.

Adding guys like Turner & Griffin, although they play hard, probably won't
help us much at the pro level. I hope they prove me wrong and Griffin turns
into a Ellie or Starks type find.

Did we keep Marlon Garnett ? Why ? Damon Jones showed me more.

Subject: David Aldridge gives Celtics a C- for offseason

Boston Celtics (C-)
Major Acquisitions: Danny Fortson, Calbert Cheaney,
Eric Williams
Major Losses: Ron Mercer
Free Agents Kept: Marlon Garnett
Draft Help: None
Fortson is a start up front, but he can't play power
forward and center. Vitaly Potapenko hasn't endeared
himself by showing up for the summer leagues
overweight. Cheaney was about to be dealt by
Washington to Miami for Clarence Weatherspoon when he
nixed the deal, taking less money to play for a worse
team. Go figure.
Big question: Is it starting to dawn on owner Paul
Gaston that this Pitino Thing isn't quite working out
the way it was supposed to?
