I can't believe how *down* all of these writers are about the Celtics.  I
don't expect them to win the championship, but how can they ignore the
nice nucleus of talent the Celtics have to work with?  How can they all
moan about the loss of Mercer and ignore what Danny Fortson will bring to
the team?

Not everything Pitino has touched has been gold, but even the signings
of Chris Mills, Travis Knight, and Andrew DeClerq, which left most people
scratching their heads, were instrumental in trading for valuable players
like Vitale Potapenko, Tony Battie, and Walter McCarty.  The Anderson
trade looks like his biggest mistake, but the rest of the team is a
serious upgrade over what it was two years ago.

Hasn't someone looked at this team objectively and thought, "Hey, they
aren't that bad?"  Maybe they won't make the playoffs, but 14th in
the East?

I stand by my prediction of 40 wins.  Bare minimum, I guarantee 30.
