this and that

By the very nature of this group we're all arm chair critics, we all have
the benefit of hindsight and many of us see the celtics through rose
colored glasses. I'm no exception. I like the look of the of the new team,
but am only cautiously optimistic about their success. The team has 3 of
the starting 5 playing new positions - Pearce, Walker and Fortson. It will
surely take some time before they and the rest of the team will feel
comfortable in the rotations and I can see the team losing many of the
earlier games.

At 28 Cheaney is entering the prime years of a sportsman's career and the
change of scenery may be just what he needs to resurrect his career. He's
also regarded as a better defensive player than Mercer and doesn't need to
take as many shots as Mercer. Wouldn't this be a good fit when you have
Walker and Pearce as your main offensive options. The question that arises
is can he step it up if either of these two players are not on the floor?

I also think that Potepenko will be a solid player for this team, but I
wonder if Andre Miller and either Lang, Benjamin or Seikly plus using
DeClerq in some other trade would have been better value. Including Chris
Herren in the earlier Denver deal may have given us a solid point guard
rotation. As I said before we all have the benefit of hindsight.

On another note Acie Earl just got sacked from the Sydney Kings in
Australia. Whilst no one could complain about the numbers he was posting in
this league, it appears from reading betweeen the lines that his work
habits weren't on par with those demanded by his coach.
