I'll tell you exactly what Rogers can do that Battie can't do: he (Rogers)
can command a double team when he posts up; and if the defense does double
down on him, he is quite capable of passing out of the double team and
finding the open man. Should the defense elect not to double team him, he'll
draw innumerable fouls going one on one in the low block.
Can you imagine the increased number of open looks that would create for
shooters like Pierce, Barros, and Penny (assuming Vecsey's halftime report of
KA/Mercer to the Magic for Hardaway is accurate) ?????
Sure he was overweight and out of shape this past season but if he were to
get in "Pitino" shape, at 6' 7" and 255 pounds, he'd be quite an offensive
load.
