Pitino: Celtics Could Make A Move After July 1; Hesitant To Trade Mercer Or Walker; No Centers In The Draft Or Free Agency

This is from today's Steve Bulpett article in the Boston Herald (not
web posted):

Pitino on acquiring a center via the draft or free agency:

"'The thing... we have to realize is that I looked at the free agent
list...
and there's not a 5-man (center) on it.  The best one is Olden
Polynice -
in the whole free agent list for centers.  And the draft is not going
to 
help us much.'"

On the possibility of making a trade before the deadline:

"'There's nothing going on right now.  I think we could do something
after July 1.'"

On Antoine Walker bulking up:

"'Antoine's got to work on his body... He's got to come back next season
like an Oakley.'"

Bulpett on Charles Oakley:

"The Celtics best path may be to add a player via free agency this
summer.
High on that list would be Charles Oakley... A trade for oakley is out
of
the question with his $10 million balloon payment salary this season...
it is well known the two got along famously in New York, and it would
be 
a nice addition for the program to have an enforcer-type who's alredy 
bought into Pitino's system." 

Pitino on trading:

"'We've got to be very careful here, because one wrong move hurts what
we have... Sur I'd love to be above .500 right now, but if I make the
wrong move with one of our key players, we could be dead... I mena we 
could get a 4-man, but we'd have to let go of Ron or 'Toine, one or the
other.'"
