Trade rumor in the Observer today

There was a blurb in the Charlotte Observer today that said Mercer was not
pleased with Pitino, and would be involved in a 3-way that would bring
Mashburn to the C's, whom Pitino "covets" (so they say)

I frankly do not understand this trade.  Mercer has not yet shown the top
of his game, while Mashburn's career has peaked.  Mercer may be one of the
few players who physically can stand up to Pitino's punishing workouts, and
Mash has a career of breaking down.

I think Barros was also mentioned in the rumor.  Mashburn is not worth
Mercer straight up, much less Mercer and Barros!
