Here's what another friend of mine said about my theory:

Although I have to say that in a sick way, I am happy for Sprewell as a
person. And for Ewing, though he probably won't get his old butt off the bench
(unless he pulls a Willis Reed). But Geez, I can just hear Costas now beating
the Spewell/Van Gundy storyline to death.
