More on PF Possibilities
Just because it's Friday and I am totally screwing around, I crunched those
rebounding numbers I sent around yesterday and broke them out on a per-minute
basis, then ranked the players that way. (I feel like Warwick.) I guess one
could argue that there's not a huge difference between .2 and .3 boards per
minute, but over 48 minutes that translates to nearly 5 boards a game. (And
yes, as Alex pointed out, I am only looking at last season, not a combination
of the past 2-3 seasons or anything.)
Note that Rogers comes in dead last here (tied with Bryant, who is big enough
to fill in at center if need be, though a bit long in the tooth). Note too
that Aaron Williams, #2, will come a LOT cheaper than almost anyone on this list!
NAME HT/WT BORN MPG PPG RPG
Lo Wright 6'11, 240 1975 23 6.6 7.5 (.32/min) (15.3/48 mins)
Aaron Williams 6'9, 225 1971 11 4 3.2 (.29/min) (13.9/48 mins)
Samaki Walker 6'9, 258 1976 14 6 3.7 (.26/min) (12.4/48 mins)
Pig Miller 6'9, 255 1971 8.6 2.4 2.3 (.26/min) (ditto)
L. Funderburke 6'9, 230 1970 20 9 4.7 (.23/min) (11.0/48 mins)
Tom Hammonds 6'9, 225 1967 14 4.3 2.8 (.20/min) (9.6/48 mins)
Mark Bryant 6'9, 250 1965 26 9 5 (.19/min) (9.1/48 mins)
Rodney Rogers 6'7, 255 1971 20 7.4 3.8 (.19/min) (ditto)
By the way, Alex, Roger's career rebounding average is 4.4 rpg, which
translates to just 7.9 rebs per 48 minutes! The only 2 seasons he broke 5 rpg,
he was playing in excess of 30 mpg, which won't happen with the Celtics. (His
career scoring average is 11.5/g.)
