  i think playoff payments to players is the only
 way to make  losers RESPECT winners
 team respect to replace personal respect

 here is a simple plan
 
players contribute a % of salary to a playoff pool

1) players over $2m/yr      20%
2) players $1m -$2m/yr      10%
3) others                    0%

of course union must agree to this and the $ would come off the top


lets assume a  $ 240,000,000   pool

any distribution to a team would be basically equal shares to each player

one reasonable distribution would be

1    championship team  $80m
2    runner up          $40m
3    ..........         $20m
4    ...........        $20m
5    .............      $10m
6   ..............      $10m
7  ................     $10m
8 ................      $10m
9 - 16  .........       $ 5m


  this way winning it all would be worth more than $6m  per man
