Jonathan Comey: What The Celtics Should Do

The New Bedford Standard Times' Jonathan Comey had the following
brief statement about the Celtics in today's notes column:

"The Celtics need to cut Kenny Anderson loose, trade Ron Mercer
for a tough power forward and start running the offense through
Antoine Walker as a point forward. Of course, that's much easier
said than done."

He also said, Lamar Odom will have the Clippers in the playoffs
by 2001.

As far as Comey's Celtic comment, it's not a bad idea. Walker isn't
a power forward, and Pierce would be alright at shooting guard, if
the C's do what Minnesota is planning to do.

The T Wolves are going to use Wally at times at guard, but on the
really tough defensive matchups, Kevin Garnett will guard the opposing
shooting guard. So, why not use Tony Battie in a similar role, or the
tough power forward Mercer is traded for? I can see where a Toni
Battie might be real effective in that sort of role...
