Peter Vecsey's Shot At Pitino

And here's what Vecsey said in today's New York
Post: "Based on Friday night's effort, or lack
thereof, against the Raptors, Rick Pitino should
be commended for achieving a synergy between
his racehorses and his Celtics. They both put
in a solid two minutes of work every time out."

Commenting on other things: Right now Pierce
looks like the best rookie, although Olowokandi
played well in his first Clipper game, and
Larry Hughes has the fans in Philly enthralled.
Carter with the Barney Boys is pretty good,
and Jason Williams had 21 or so and five steals
in his Kings debut. Nowitzki got off to a
rough start in Dallas, and it seems that a lot
of the teams are using their veterans over the
rookies because of the importance of each game.

                 ______________

Geiger and Ratliff are playing well in Philly,
and should give the smallish Celtic frontline
problems when the teams meet.

Will Pitino upgrade Riley's salary? Since the
C's haven't used their $1.75 million slot, it's
possible with the continued improvement
of Eric Riley, Pitino will swith him from his partially-guaranteed
$470,000 salary to the
bigger exception to head off an Ike Austin situation.
