Welcome back, Jim. Actually, the unbelieveable Gary Trent deal this
weekend (2 years at 4.2 million) is a hopeful sign that the market has
calmed down a bit. I'm still amazed that Nellie successfully resigned
him for less than Samaki or even our Cal Cheaney cost. Basically, he
promised Trent similar playing time and shots per game to re-sign in
Dallas. Trent must have realized his mistake, since he reportedly
skipped the press conference announcing the deal even though he was in
town.

If Pitino and Wallace can bring either Fortson or Battie in at
reasonable numbers, he should do so. One or both of those guys could
cost Gaston a lot more next year as unrestricted FA's, merely by playing
normal, productive starter minutes all season. I don't remember the last
time a 12.1 rpg player with a 10-year future ahead of him signed for
cheap.
