Was RP referencing Francis in his recent comment as the"future All-Star"??
RP surely couldn't have been referencing Fortson when he made his recent
"future all-star if we can make the numbers work" comment, could he?
Given today's rumblings about the C's and Pacers having had recent
discussions of a Dale Davis/Jalen Rose for AW deal, could such a potential
trade be merely the front-end of a blockbuster???
Walker straight up for Francis wouldn't get it done as he and Rahim play the
same positions and both would be getting identical contracts starting this
year which would make no sense from their (Vancouver's) standpoint. Dale
Davis, however, only has 4 years left on his deal at much less money and is
the veteran presence the Grizzlies crave and a natural "4" that doesn't need
any plays run for him to be content to do what he does best, which is to
board and to play "D".
Francis then plays the "2" and Pierce remains at the "3" with Fortson and VP
as the other starters. Battie and Williams are the prime front court guys
off the bench. If RP can wrangle Jalen Rose also as part of the deal with
Davis, he adds another solid contributor that can play some minutes at the
point as well.
Bird gets a young frontcourt player to replace Davis, the Griz get their
veteran power forward and either a player or the Denver pick, and the C's get
their "Future All-Star".
Too far fetched????
