Why trade Mercer?

Just a few thoughts on the recent posts. I agree that we need another big
man, an improvement at point guard, a greater veteran presence, and I hope
we can keep Mercer. Now, some of you cap wizards and free agent experts
will have to fill in the details, but why can't we do something like this:

- trade Anderson and whoever else we need from (Minor, McCarty, Barros,
Battie) for a veteran big man (I don't know about Rodgers)
- pick up a free agent veteran point guard

Like I said, I don't know about all the details, what free agents would
want to play for Pitino, what decent big man we could get for Anderson,
etc. But isn't this a feasible way of filling some of our needs and keeping
Mercer?
