Re: Nazr Mohammed

My $.02 of a reply,
A note of caution regarding Nazr; he has definately improved by leaps and
bounds at Kentucky, but I wonder whether he is the kind of talent
required at that high and important pick. Nazr went to Kenwood, a Chicago
high school in the blue (lower) division where he was often able to put up
numbers but never really dominate despite huge height advantages. He has
an awful tendency to move away from the basket (which results in many
missed close-in shots, as you may have noticed in the NCAAs). He is not
extremely quick moving or jumping. Nazr is simply not an incredible
athlete. He is hard-working, intelligent, and committed, as evidenced by
the monumental strides he has made under Pitino and Smith. But Mohammed
is certainly no Mercer in terms of raw ability, and while my guess is he
could be a solid contributer, I don't see him scoring big in the NBA. He
is a great guy, but perhaps not what the C's need.
