Gaston is right

I'm getting really tired of everyone calling Gaston cheap and
demanding that he sell the team. He is absolutely right in playing hard
ball with Antoine. Last year Antoine was the whole team and may have
deserved $100M. But this coming season he will be one of four very good
players. Once he signs a 9 figure contract, what incentive does he have
to work hard and improve?

He may end up taking it easy while continuing to force up bad
shots and miss free throws. He'll be making $17M per year as the fourth
best player on the team. Then next year Mercer demands $110M (witness
Marbury in Minnesota), and the year after Pierce will want $120M.

And don't think this won't have repercussions. If you want Gaston
to pay Antoine, don't complain when tickets prices go through the
stratosphere and every game is on cable or pay per view.

The bottom line is that paying Antoine $100M before he even
receives one offer from another team is completely insane. Keep up the
good work Mr. Gaston, where ever you are.
