Re: Bird's Statement

I truly assume he may be saying this most with regards to the Pacers fans.
It was reported in last weeks SI, that even with the Bird as coach and the
great success of the team, attendance was down about 2000 per game. This
definately brings into questions the reality of at least the Pacers fans.
Bird probably misses the consistency and heart and emotion (as well as
intelligence) of the screaming masses at nearly every Celtic game. Even at
the teams worst.

This environment reminds me of the absolute fickleness of the sports fans
in Atlanta. They don't apparently care about any games, unless it is the
championships or they know the world is watching. They failed to sell out
Hawks playoff games years ago against the Shaq led Magic. An unimagineable
concept in virtually everyother NBA city.

BTW, great games from Mercer, Walker, Billups, Barros and Thomas (our new
secret weapon).

Later,
Greg
