As soon as the Lakers signed Shaq they raised the ticket price .  I think the cheap seats went from $12 to $21 or something like that.

I don't think Gaston brought Pitino here to pinch pennies buying players.
Think like an economist. Large sellouts, more tv revenue, more product
sales, etc.
