Boston Celtics (16-15) at Washington Wizards (18-17), 7 p.m.
Boston won a 97-88 match with Washington at home on
December 12, snapping a four-game series losing streak
to the Wizards/Bullets. Washington has prevailed in six of the
last eight meetings. Since the 1994-95 season, Washington
holds a 7-6 edge.
The Celtics saw their two-game winning streak snapped on
Tuesday, losing 90-79 in Chicago. Ron Mercer scored
20 points and Antoine Walker scored 18 and grabbed 11
rebounds in the loss. Boston is 5-9 on the road this year.
The Celtics already have one more win this season than all
of last year.
Washington has also won two straight, and three of its last four
outings. On Monday, the Wizards defeated the Knicks in
New York, 113-106. Chris Webber and Juwan Howard scored
26 points apiece for Washington. The Wizards come into the
game with a 9-6 mark at home, but just a 3-8 record within the
Atlantic Division.

NBA Preview (Boston-Washington)
Boston (16-15) at Washington (18-17) 7:00 pm EST
Two teams battling for position in the middle of the Atlantic
Division meet tonight when the Boston Celtics visit the
Washington Wizards.
One year after winning just one game in the division, Boston
is in athree-way tie for fourth in the Atlantic with Washington
and Orlando. The teams are four games back of first-place
Miami, though the Celtics arepercentage points better than
Orlando, which has the advantage on Washington.
The Celtics had won two straight games before Tuesday's
90-79 loss at Chicago. Tonight's game marks Boston's
sixth in the last seven on the road. The Celtics are 5-8 in
road games after going just 4-37 last season.
Chris Webber and Juwan Howard scored 26 points apiece
as the Wizards built a 20-point lead and held on for a 113-106
victory over the New York Knicks on Monday, their first at
Madison Square Garden in nearly seven years.
Washington has won three of its last four games, scoring at
least 109 points in all three wins. Tonight's game begins a stretch
that sees the Wizards play seven of eight at the MCI Center,
where they are 9-1.
The teams met on December 12th in Boston, with the Celtics
claiming a 97-88 victory. The Wizards have claimed the last two
meetings in Washington.
