RE: Sick of Cousy

We are getting really petty on these issues with Cousy. Ever think he
might have answered No in a sarcastic manner ?

As for the point needs he is 100% correct. If you watch the games it is
pretty obvious that we are extremely deficient at the point position with
the exception of Edney whose height limitations cause other problems. We
blow way too many opportunities on breaks, or often just don't take
advantage of them. Eric Murdoch is a better point than what we have. Too
bad we could not have kept Eric and moved Brown or Minor. As for the "give
them some time" remember high draft picks like Bo Kimball & Harold "Baby
Jordan" Miner who had extremely productive college careers, and were better
scorers than Billups, but they bombed in the NBA. How long can you wait to
find out a player isn't what you thought ? We waited too long on Minor,
Brown & Barros now the have little or no trade value.
Personally I have seen very little that would lead me to say Chauncy
Billups will ever become a good point guard in the NBA. True he has good
height and athleticism, but he shows little point guard instincts. I would
move him for Nash any day, if I was looking for someone to run my offense.
Does that mean he won't become a better player than Nash ? No. But in
keeping Chauncy, are we really trying to fit a square peg into a round
hole and make him be something he really isn't ?

He really was not a point in college, how many successful point guards were
moved from other positions ? I can't recall any.

Can you win without a real point ? Yes, if you have several other players
that are excellent ball handlers and passers and you have good ball
movement.

If we don't get a real point, or Chauncy doesn't turn into the next Gary
Payton, 3 years from now we could be at .500 also, and won't be too happy
then.

I have a lot of respect for what Cousy has achieved in the sport, BUT he
really pissed me off when Tommy mentioned that somebody had just "tickled
the twine". Tommy then said something to the extent of "remember anyone
else who would use that phrase"? Cousy gave a perfunctory "NO".

Of course Tommy was referring to the late, great JOHNNY MOST!!

For Cousy to be so cavalier with his response was absolutely
unprofessional, and for someone who has meant so much to the Celtic
family, Johnny's memory deserves more respect from Cousy and anyone else
for that matter!

There's also the time McCarty made a steal at midcourt and threw the ball
away trying to get it to Mercer for a layup, when Cousy piped in with the
need again for a point guard. Geez man, the guy just made a great steal
and tried to quickly force a pass to an open teammate. One minute, he
wants Billups (I'm sure that Dana was playing the point at that time)
to push it as much as possible, and when a forward makes a nice play
, he expects him to be in the middle of the court regardless of
where he is defensively at the time.

LET'S TRADE COUSY FOR MAXWELL!!

HAPPY NEW YEAR. WE'RE AT .500
