I have been off this list awhile, so this could be a well-hashed-out topic ... but I just read on the CNNSI Web site that Raef Lafrentz "is already available to the highest bidder." It also mentions Pitino as a possible taker. Now, I am still firmly in the pro-Walker camp, but if the team is bent on suicide and would rather trade their best player than pay him market value, I'd at least consider taking LaFrentz. What do others think?
I don't see Raef dominating at the pro level the way he did in college; he seems too soft, somehow, and I dont know about his speed. But he could certainly be a good complementary player; and, he and Pierce have played together for 3 years and I haven't heard anything about their not liking each other. And I'm just not excited about the other major trade rumor making the rounds, Mashburn & Brown. I don't see Mash doing anyuthing but hindering Pierce, and I don't think Brown is appreciably better than Popeye.

Denver has a ton of cap space and might be willing to pay Toine, who might be excited about playing again with his bud Eric Williams. The Nuggets also might be persudaded to throw in a Dean Garrett, who I think is a serviceable center (better than we have now). Wouldn't it be ironic, though, if the onetime Celtic frontcourt of the future brings a title to the Rockies??
