Re: Malone deserves respect

Malone and Stockton were willing to take far less money than they could have
received, probably, from other teams, to make it possible to build their
team into a winner, which is what some of us have been saying - you can't
give huge money to one player and not be able to hire the rest of the team,
without whom there will be no success. Karl now wants to make the big bucks
and I think he's earned it, as has been documented here and by his record.
I don't think any player is worth $20 million a year, but we heard an
interview of him on ESPN and he pretty much said he has an agent, but he,
Malone, is in charge and if he should decide to take less than that, it will
be his decision, and his alone. Therefore, he's saying he would probably
settle for less. Someone early in his career screwed him out of alot of
money and ever since then he's served as his own agent. This is the first
one he's had since then. Nobody's going to lead him around by the nose
again, and I think many of these ball players could learn a lesson from
that. Whether anyone thinks he's the best or not, he certainly is one of
the best players in the league right now, and shouldn't he get a bonus now?
I think so. I believe he's earned it, unlike some other players who think
they should have it all right away. Just my opinion.
