Re: free agents

Cecil,
i agree, its slim pickings for big men in the free agent market. Geiger is
not a top 10 center and has been injury prone. it is also true that
ratliff's quickness and athletic ability would probably make him a better
fit for pitino's system. however, for the celtics to go anywhere in this
league, not to mention the play-offs, the celtics are going to have to
start playing some half court ball once and awhile. that is where i think
geiger has the edge over the other free agents available. he seems to be a
better low post player than ratliff and michael stewart. i think issac
austin is probably the best low post player available but his price will
be out of the celtics range. one practical reason to believe the celtics
will sign geiger is that david falk is the agent for walker, kenny
anderson, and geiger (i believe). it was also rumored falk and pitino
worked together to get anderson in a celtics uniform. this leads me to
believe that the celtics have as good a chance as anyone to get geiger.
where did you ever get the idea that the celts would have any chance of
singing mcdyess. they could never afford both of them under the cap. also
they both play the same position and would have to outbid phoenix for his
services, the one spot in the nba where everyone wants to play.
