Re: Walker on ESPN

Garnett did indeed grow up in Mauldin, SC. The "somewhere else" for
senior year was Chicago, which is why Ray thought he was a local boy.
Garnett met Ronnie Fields (one of the most incredible athletes you will
ever see, if you get a chance) at a high-school all-star camp, and decided
to move in with his grandmother (or maybe aunt?) in Chicago and attend
Fields' Farragut Academy. Together they led the Admirals to a dominating
season, but were stopped short of a state title by the slightly
undermanned but overacheiving Thornton team, led by Tai Streets (currently
a star WR for Michigan football), Nap Harris (N'Western), Corey Harris,
Antwann Randle-El, and Melvin Ely (should start next year at Fresno St).
peace,
Davide
