Re: The Boston Celtics Mailing List Digest V4 #302

This is in response to Dan's remarks on exhorbitant salaries:

It doesn't matter to me what any athlete makes - or doesn't make. What
matters to me are the prices of games. I agree with you, I will not buy
tickets to any professional sporting event (same with concerts or shows)
because the ticket prices are much higher than the enjoyment I receive
in return. I will watch sports on free TV because I enjoy them but I
don't enjoy them enough to pay for Pay-TV or special cable channels.
Athletes and owners should get whatever they can - no matter how much
that seems to be. I'm under no obligation to pay and will exercise my
choice not to. I think Mo Vaughn should decide what he wants to get paid
and either accept an offer or not - no one is forcing him to play. In
the meantime, he should quit complaining. Owners should offer contracts
they're willing to live with - no one is forcing them to pay. In the
meantime, *they* should quit complaining. By the same token, fans
should either buy tickets or stay home - no one is forcing them to pay.
In the meantime, quit complaining.
