BOSTON, OCT. 28 -- The Boston Celtics announced today that they have traded
forward Tony Massenburg <Picture>

Roy Rogers=20

and a future second-round draft pick to the Vancouver Grizzlies in exchange
for forward/center Roy Rogers.=20

Massenburg, 30, was signed as a free agent by the Celtics on July 28 of
this year. He averaged 3.6 points and 3.6 rebounds in eight preseason games
with Boston. The 6-9, 250-pound power forward, is entering his sixth NBA
season. In 79 games with New Jersey last season, he averaged 7.2 points and
6.5 boards. The former University of Maryland Terrapin has averaged 7.4
points, 5.3 rebounds and 22 minutes played per contest in his NBA career.=20

Rogers, 24, averaged 5 points and 2.5 rebounds in 4 preseason games. He was
the only Vancouver player to appear in all 82 games (50 starts) last
season. The 6-10, 230-pound forward/center averaged 6.6 points and 4.7
rebounds per game in 1996-97. He was a first-round selection (22nd overall)
by Vancouver in the 1996 NBA Draft, after a stellar college career at the
University of Alabama.=20
