I think the big difference in the Celtics finding the hidden
talent is Chris Wallace. The Miami roster from last year is
proof enough. After the NBA voided the Howard contract and
Miami had already agreed to a contract with Mourning, the Heat
were pretty much handcuffed cap wise. But they still managed
to put together a decent lineup and got players that other
teams had no interest in (Austin & Lenard). Rick Pitino knew
what he was doing when he gave up that 2nd rounder to get
Wallace in. Do you think the Heat would have signed Todd Day
if Wallace was still down there?
Wallace does admit that Riley is the kind of coach to get the
most out of Todd Day. Riley even got Jamal Mashburn to play
some defense last year.
