The Raptors won the most recent meeting between these teams, 125-94, in
Boston
on April 20th. But Boston had won the four previous
meetings and owns a 6-2
record in the two-year series, including a 3-1 mark at
home.
PREVIEW
Toronto Raptors (1-6) at Boston Celtics (2-5), 7 p.m.
This is the first meeting of the season between the
two teams.
The Celtics took three of four meetings with the Raptors
last season,
and have won six of eight all-time meetings. Toronto
snapped a four-
game losing streak on April 20, 1997, with a 125-94
demolition in
Boston.
The Raptors are losers of four straight games by an
average of
almost 13 points a contest. They are coming off a
23-point blowout
loss at the hands of the Knicks at home. Toronto is 0-3 on
the road,
and won just 12 times as the visitor a year ago. The
Raptors are 0-3
versus the Atlantic Division.
The Celtics snapped a five-game losing streak with a
96-86 win
over the Nuggets at home Wednesday. Boston has yet to
break the
century mark in scoring, and has twice failed to reach
80 points.
Meanwhile, the Celtics have allowed 100-plus points three
times this
season. Boston's five losses have come by an average of
more than 14
points per contest. The Celtics are 1-2 versus the Central
Division,
and are 2-3 at the FleetCenter.
