Re: Rookie of the Year debate

I have to agree on the top two, with Iverson third, but then I'd
put Kerry Kittles in there, with Marbury fifth. Kittles
might even by my No. 3, if Iverson's recent slump continues
          the rest of the season.

I think Abdur-Rahim is a future scoring champ, provided he
gets some help in Vancouver. I thought he was the best
player in this year's draft (I honestly thought Walker was
No. 2), and still can't believe Isiah Thomas passed on
Abdur-Rahim in favor of Marcus Camby.

All and all, a pretty strong class, don't you think?

Okay, rookie of the year debate...

The contenders, in my mind, are Rahim, Walker, Iverson, and Marbury.

1) Rahim...big, close to huge numbers recently. Has come on strong. Team
has worst record in league.

2) Walker...big numbers since he got big minutes. Slumping a little
recently, though. Team has second worst record in the league.

3) Iverson...been injured a lot, has attitude problem and doesn't seem to
be a point guard. Huge numbers in early season have dropped off
tremendously of late. Seems to be fading. Team has 4th worst record in
the league

4) Marbury...only reason for consideration is that his team should make the
playoffs for the first time ever. Is this really due to him, though? Or
Googs' monster numbers and All-Star status? Has been injured a lot, though
shown flashes.

Off the numbers I'd have to go with Rahim, with Walker coming in second. I
think that Marbury's been a factor in the 'Wolves turnaround, but not the
primary one. Iverson's a punk, so that may bias me a wee bit.

Thoughts?
