Chicago Deal(Not!)

I just read some additional info. from Marc Heisler the L.A. Times NBA
reporter on the Chicago deal, don't know if its true but it sure is
interesting.

The deal was, #3, #6 & #1 in 1999 for Pippen & Longley. The Bulls were to
take Van Horn, if he was not there they would move the # 3 to Denver & the
#5 & #10 obtained from Milwaukee for Ervin Johnson, giving Chicago #5, #6,
#10 & #28 and Boston's #1 in 1999 ! With 5 & 6 the Bulls would take
Mercer & Mcgrady whom they had secretly brought in without Phil Jackson's
knowledge. It states Jackson and staff were ordered out of the practice
facility and a large force of off-duty cops were present at the Bull
offices on the day of the draft to deal with angry fan's if the deal went
down. It also states Jordan did not make any calls, Reinsdorf tried to get
his assurance he would return, but did not get any return calls and backed
out.

Jackson's agent has confirmed that on several occasions players were
brought in without him there.

Interesting info. Imagine how the Bulls would have been able to continue &
rebuild at the same time. IMO, Jordan's silence hurt there future when
he's gone.
