How can you fail a physical on purpose?

I am sure the medical staff would have performed physical tests on his knee. 
eg. testing the strength on a Cybex machine. It is possible for a player to 
perform below his best on such a test.

 The 76ers did a mri of his
knee.  If there was damage that showed on the mri, he failed.

Any person who has had knee surgery will have damage showing on an mri.

Also from what I heard Dino could have played earlier this year.

It doesn't matter anyway, we're stuck with the overweight, overpaid, and no 
D on the pick n rolls failure.
