I agree, and I feel I should respond because the first responce
was to my original post. The problem with Minor is that he cannot create
his own shot. Minor, while very athletic, cannot seam to use that
athleticism to get himself open. He also has very limited range.
Usually, SGs can hit the three, but Minor cant.
Mercer, on the other hand, can create his own shot, take it to
the hole, and play good D. There may be some similiarity with Minor in
that Mercer has limited range at this point (which is why some see him
starting at SF before going to SG). Pitino also said that Mercer needs
to develop an "ego," whatever that means. In the worst case scenario,
Mercer and Minor are exactly the same this year, but in 2-3 years, Mercer
is Grant Hill and Minor is, well, still Greg Minor. Mercer could end up
being the best player in the draft not named Tim Duncan. With the slim
pickin's in this draft, I still think the Celtics would be fools not to
take Mercer at #3.
