The Warriors will play their first game in the new Coliseum Arena on
Saturday, November 8, when they will host the Minnesota Timberwolves.

In the 1997-98 schedule announced yesterday, the team will play its first
four games on the road, including the season opener at Minnesota, followed
by a game at Indiana that will mark Larry Bird's home debut as the Pacers'
coach.
Among the schedule's highlights are home games against the Utah Jazz
(February 1 and April 7), the Houston Rockets (November 29 and April 9), the
Los Angeles Lakers (December 10 and April 11), the Miami Heat (February 22),
the New York Knicks (March 24), the Detroit Pistons (November 12) and the
world champion Chicago Bulls (January 30).
The Warriors have two extensive road trips, a six-game trip in January
(including back-to-back games at Detroit and Chicago) and a five-game swing
in late February and early March (including games at New York, Washington
and Boston in a four-day span).

The Warriors will play 10 of their last 14 games at home.

-- A Halloween opening night with 14 games, a Christmas doubleheader
(Chicago vs. Miami and Utah vs. Seattle) and the first New Year's Eve game
in 26 years highlight the 1997-98 NBA schedule.

The schedule includes 26 games to be televised nationally by NBC. Another
70 games will appear on cable networks TNT and TBS, including opening-night
matchups of Chicago vs. Boston and Utah vs. the Lakers.

Opening night will be one of two during the season in which 28 of the 29
teams will be in action.

The New Year's Eve game will feature Toronto and Washington at the MCI
Center in downtown Washington, which is scheduled to open December 2.

FOYLE TO HAVE SURGERY

Adonal Foyle, the first-round draft pick of the Warriors, will have
surgery on his left foot, the team said.

Foyle fractured the fifth metatarsal bone while playing in the Jersey
Shore League last week.

Surgery will be performed tomorrow at the East Bay Surgical Center in
Castro Valley. The foot will be placed in a cast and he will remain in the
area for the rest of the week.

The injury will be evaluated in September to determine if Foyle will be
ready for the opening of training camp.

SuperSonics: Seattle officials had no comment on a report that the
Denver Nuggets are considering a swap of Antonio McDyess for Shawn Kemp.

Allen Bristow, Denver's vice president for basketball operations,
acknowledged talking with the Sonics.
