MARIETTA, Ga. (Jul 13, 1997 - 00:21 EDT) -- Rick Pitino says every day has been good since he returned to coaching in the NBA, and Saturday was no exception.

"Every day has been great. There hasn't been a bad day yet," Pitino said after his Boston Celtics defeated the Atlanta Hawks 107-78 on Saturday in the final round of the Atlanta Summer Shootout, a three-day tournament of mostly rookie teams.

The Cleveland Cavaliers defeated Larry Bird's Indiana Pacers 86-75 in the first game Saturday.

Pitino, who became coach of the Celtics in May under a $42 million contract, missed the first two nights of the Shootout while in Boston negotiating a deal that could send center Dino Radja to Europe, which would free up $2.8 million in salary money for the Celtics.

"Those negotiations could be over by Monday," said the former Kentucky coach, who previously coached the New York Knicks. "I was also involved in talks with other free agents. We have someone else representing us in the Radja deal today."

Travis Williams scored 14 points in 28 minutes to pace Boston. Top draft choice Ron Mercer, who played for Pitino at Kentucky, played 27 minutes and had 12 points and four rebounds. Eric Murdock added 13 points and Eric Williams 12.

The Hawks' top draft pick, Ed Gray of California, played 32 minutes and had 19 points, five rebounds and two assists. Another rookie, Chris Crawford from Marquette, also had 19 points.

The Cavaliers' high scorer was Zydrunas Ilgauska with 18 points. Top draft pick Brevin Knight of Stanford played 22 minutes with six points, two rebounds and five assists.

The Pacers were led by Darvin Ham and Chris Garner with 12 points each. Austin Croshere of Providence, Indiana's top pick, had seven points, three rebounds and one assist.
