What?...Rent him?...Please help me...shouldn't Pitino be running away from
this guy as fast as possible? Shouldn't they just take his money and run?
Now, concerning Travis Knight. Let me first say that I've thought
everything Pitino's done so far has been great. Trying to trade / dump
Radja on the Sixers...perfect. Trying to get Pippen and Longley...fabulous.
The two picks in the draft...excellent. But TRAVIS KNIGHT? Now a lot of you
have said that if Pitino thinks this guy has a future then that's good
enough for you...but forget that action. Out here on the west coast we had
to endure a Laker game on tv what seemed to be every every hour on the
hour, seven days a week. (And believe me there was nothing better than
seeing Eddie Jones stink it up in the Utah series.) I don't know how many
times you guys back east saw Knight play but...Christ I hope I'm
wrong...this kid is nothing but a decent back-up, and I think "decent" is
giving him the benefit of the doubt. He had a couple nice games where he
got a ton of offensive rebounds and looked pretty good on offense, but when
people stopped discounting him and actually started playing him as if he
had a game, he was pretty much just a body on the floor giving someone a
rest. Look...he runs well for someone who's 7' tall. He has a pretty nice
touch on his shot. He's constantly moving. But...no matter what you think
or may have heard, he's not a consistently good rebounder...he's not a good
defender...and he never will be able to play 30 minutes a night at any
position. He's not big enough...he's not consistent enough...he's not tough
enough...he has zero inside game...he gets banged around and thrown off
what little game he does have way too easily. He is, at best,...mediocre.
Now again, I hope I'm wrong...but SEVEN YEARS! Get me a pill. Travis
Knight's ship just came in. Unless this team gets someone with some kind of
game who can actually play center, someone with knees that work and who can
actually muscle for position underneath, it's still 24 wins tops.
