knight
Count me among those cautiously optimistic about Travis
Knight. If Pitino sees great potential in the kid, that's
good enough for me. My only concern is the price tag, which
really isn't outrageous, but could handcuff us if we don't
take some steps with other players. That being said, I
believe we will get Dino's money, and I still think by the
trading deadline we'll free up more money by dumping some
combination of Dee/Dana/Minor. I believe one or more of
these players will drive his value up in Pitino's system and
become more attractive in trades during the season. If all
this happens and we're still able to land a top free agent
next year, the Knight signing looks great.
As far as bemoaning the loss of all the other players, Fox
is the only guy I'll really miss. Conlon is a hard worker
and would have been nice to have around, but it's not as if
he's been a lifetime Celtic. He was here one season. Fox on
the other hand, was a loyal Celtic and it's a shame he
couldn't be retained. I do understand why it couldn't
happen, however. Now I hope he goes somewhere where he can
win. Atlanta would be ideal. They need a small forward and
Fox seems like a perfect fit in Lenny Wilkens'
team-oriented, unselfish style of play. We should all wish
him luck and hope we meet him in the playoffs in the next
couple of years.
