Here is the article from ESPN on Knight. It is an AP article. I wonder
if it is good that he is loyal to his team, or does he come with a bad
attitude.

Also, with the deals we have, does a 7 year contract at $3mm a year make
sense?

Who are the free agents who will be renounced? What happens to Radja?
These are interesting times.

Peace,

LOS ANGELES -- Travis Knight has tentatively agreed to a
seven-year free-agent contract with the Boston Celtics, and will
leave the Lakers, the Los Angeles Times reported Saturday.

The deal, when finalized in a few days, is worth about $22
million over the length of the contract. In conjunction with the
signing, the Celtics will renounce several of their own free
agents, the Times said.

Knight was orginally selected in the first round, 29th overall,
of last year's draft by Chicago. But rather than offer Knight a
required three-year contract, the Bulls surrendered their rights to
him.

The 7-foot center out of Connecticut signed a one-year deal with
the Lakers last July and averaged 4.8 points and 4½ rebounds in 71
games for Los Angeles.

Knight, who cited the Lakers salary cap restraints, could not
refuse the deal that Los Angeles was unable to match. But he
agonized over the decision for two days, the Times said.

"I really have mixed emotions," said Knight, who played in the
rookie all-star game last season. "I should be elated right now,
but I'm not. I feel so much loyalty" to the Lakers.

"But you work at something as hard as you can, and then it's
there. The security," he said. "That's the rest of my life, right
there."
