I am not disagreeing with you that a managerial decision to tank a season
is at least somewhat unsportsmanlike (unethical is a little too strong a
word for me afterall it is just a game).  I am just trying to point out
that you can't have the best of both worlds.  If you want your teams to
avoid the lottery at all costs, then you are destined to root for mediocre
teams.  That is your prerogative of course.  I think where we disagree is
about the chances of ever winning a championship without a superstar taken
in the top 3 of the draft.  I am not trying to convince you that the
Celtics are squeaky clean in this matter, only that they didn't nopthing
more than what is necessary to get back to championship level within the
next 10 years.
