Sportszone Rookie of the Year Voting (fwd)

Good points all. Personally, I like Marbury for the award based solely on
the fact that he's had the most effect on his team. Of course, there is no
quantitative way to determine whether Minnesota's success is due to him or
more so to Googs or Garnett, but surely he's part of the reason.
Basketball, after
all, is a team game. Were MJ averaging 35 ppg and the Bulls winning 35-45
games, he would never be nominated for MVP. An individual's success should
be tied to that of the team. Iverson, I think, has the greatest potential
of all the rookies, based on his incredible athletic ability alone. He has
shown us quite a bit of that, but to stockpile points while one's team is
down by 20, I don't know how much in agreement I am of that. Some thought
I was picking Shareef for ROY and arguing that Walker is better and should
deserve the award. Not really. Look Walker's stats are impressive but
hardly efficient. The guy shot 42.5 % fg and 62+ % ft. He's a talent but
whether he's a Hill type talent who carries his team and in the meantime
racks up impressive stats or a Spree type, who piles up stats and
occasionally helps his team due to that. There's a difference. - Danny
